The Winter Season of Transformation: Why January doesn’t have to be a reset
We’ve been sold a lie about January.
The fitness industry wants you to believe that January 1st is the starting gun—that you should hit the ground running, push harder, do more, be more.
But here’s what they’re missing: It’s winter.
Not just on the calendar, but in nature. In your body. In the rhythm of life itself.
And winter? Winter is not the season for sprinting. It’s the season for something far more powerful.
The Wisdom of Winter
Look outside. The trees aren’t producing leaves. The earth isn’t bursting with blooms. Animals are conserving energy, staying close to warmth, moving slowly and deliberately.
Nature understands something we’ve forgotten: winter is the season of deep work happening beneath the surface.
The roots are strengthening. The soil is regenerating. Energy is being stored and restored. All in preparation for the growth that will come when the season shifts.
This is exactly what your body needs right now, especially if you’re navigating perimenopause or menopause.
The Winter Month of Your Cycle
If you’re familiar with cycle syncing, you know that menstruation is often called the “winter” phase of a woman’s monthly cycle. It’s the time when:
- Energy naturally dips
- The body calls for rest and reflection
- Internal restoration happens
- Intuition is heightened
- The foundation is set for the next phase
For women in midlife, when our hormones are shifting and cycles may be irregular or absent, we can still honour this winter wisdom. We can recognize that transformation doesn’t require force, it requires foundation.
The work you do in winter the slow, steady, restorative work, is what creates lasting change.
What Winter Work Looks Like
Instead of hitting the ground running in January, what if you approached this season differently?
What if January was about:
Warming things up. Nourishing your body with warm, comforting foods that support digestion and energy. Soups, stews, roasted vegetables, herbal teas. Food that feels like a hug from the inside.
Slowing down. Moving your body in ways that build strength without depleting you. Strength training that honours your energy levels. Walks that clear your mind. Stretching that releases tension.
Hibernating strategically. Getting the deep, restorative sleep your body is craving. Creating cozy evening routines. Saying no to things that drain you. Protecting your energy like the precious resource it is.
Deep rest and rebuilding. This is where the magic happens. Under the surface. In the quiet moments. When you’re not forcing, not pushing, not hustling.
This is the season when your nervous system can finally down regulate, your hormones can find balance, your cells can repair and regenerate, your metabolism can reset, and your strength can rebuild from the foundation up.
All of this happens in the winter season of deep, intentional work.
Midlife Momentum: Your Winter Transformation
This is exactly why I’ve designed Midlife Momentum to begin January 5th.
Not to have you sprint out of the gate.
But to give you 8 weeks to do the deep, foundational work that creates lasting transformation….work that honours the winter season we’re in.
This program is for women in perimenopause and menopause who are ready to:
Break free from the all-or-nothing mindset. No more January crash diets or unsustainable plans. We’re building something that lasts.
Build strength and energy from the inside out. Movement practices that work WITH your hormones, not against them. Strength training that honours your daily energy fluctuations.
Create personalized nutrition strategies. Using real data (hello, InsideTracker!) to understand what YOUR body needs. Not generic meal plans—actual personalized protocols.
Find sustainable practices you’ll actually stick with. Because sustainability is the whole point. This is about the long game.
Feel confident and empowered in your changing body. Your body isn’t broken. It’s transitioning. And you deserve support that honours that.
What Makes This Different
Data-Driven Personalization
You’ll receive access to the InsideTracker app where you can upload ANY bloodwork you’ve had done by your doctor. We’ll use this information to create truly personalized recommendations, because your body is unique, and your protocol should be too.
Winter-Aligned Approach
We’re not going to have you doing HIIT workouts six days a week in February while your body is screaming for rest. We’re going to build strength intelligently, support your energy strategically, and honour what your body actually needs.
Functional Nutrition Focus
This isn’t about food lists or restriction. It’s about understanding how different foods affect YOUR blood sugar, YOUR hormones, YOUR energy, YOUR digestion. And then creating sustainable strategies that work in real life.
Community and Support
You’ll be surrounded by other women who get it. Who understand the fatigue, the weight changes, the brain fog, the frustration. And who are committed to doing this work together.
The Traditions That Sustain Us
Remember those homemade rolls cooling on the rack? The ones that fill your kitchen with warmth and bring your family to the table?
Those are part of living well.
Balance isn’t about eliminating joy. It’s about creating a life where you can savor the homemade traditions, enjoy the holiday gatherings, AND feel strong, energized, and confident in your body.
It’s about releasing the guilt and embracing the wisdom of seasons—both the ones on the calendar and the ones in your life.
Ready to Honour Your Winter Season?
Midlife Momentum registration opens January 5th.
This is the 4th time I’m running this program, and each time, I’m blown away by the women who show up ready to do this work differently.
Women who are tired of the hustle.
Women who want sustainable results.
Women who are ready to honour their bodies instead of fighting them.
If that sounds like you, stay tuned.
In the meantime?
Light a candle. Make a pot of tea. Enjoy those homemade rolls.
Winter is here. And it’s the perfect time to begin.
